Pumpkin Spice time

It's that time of year....Pumpkin Spice time at Starbucks!  I made a Pumpkin Spice loaf to give to my fav Starbucks store and made this card to go along with it.  I was doing a massive clear out of all my "saved for later" posts in my Feedly and came across this technique from Jennifer McGuire which is where my card idea came from.

I stamped the cup (Paper Smooches) with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto Bella’sBestest paper and coloured it with copics.  I used a stencil and some texture paste that I coloured with some Antique Linen distress ink for the background.  I had some of the paste left and didn't want to waste it so made another card.

The little girl is from Pumpkins on the Vine (There She Goes) and I stamped her with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto Bella’sBestest paper and coloured it with copics.

I'm excited to deliver my Starbucks treat to them tomorrow!

Pumpkin patch

I made a little "scene" card this weekend.

I have been having fun with my new Distress Oxide inks and wanted to create a background but didn't have the right colours in the oxide inks so got out my regular Distress Inks to create this.  I used Mustard Seed and Fired Brick and then along the edges added some Black Soot.  I flicked some black ink and then sprayed the whole thing with Frost Shimmer Spritz.

I stamped a few of the images that come with the set Pumpkins on the Vine from There She Goes with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto Bella’sBestest paper and coloured them with copics.  The fence and the grass die is from MFT.  I popped all the images up and them stamped the sentiment from MFT PI Pumpkin Patch Girl.

I still new at all this Distress Ink and smooshing, etc, but am pretty happy with how my little card came out.

Pumpkin Spice Lattes

Even though it feels like summer this week, I know Fall has arrived because Starbucks is featuring it's famous Pumpkin Spice Lattes!  Here's the card I made for them - check out those venti size drinks: )

I stamped PI Pumpkin Patch Girl with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto Bella’sBestest paper and coloured her with copics.  I masked off the pumpkins that are in the wagon and replaced them with two Venti Pumpkin Spice Lattes!  Her sweater is paper pieced.  The paper is MME "Reunion" and SU Pumpkin Pie and Chocolate Chip.

On the inside I stamped the sentiment and then a row of tiny pumpkins on either side of the Pumpkin Spice Latte.

I made them a loaf of Banana bread to go with their card, but think now it should have been a Pumpkin loaf - LOL.

Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte

Well, summer is over and we're easing into the fall season which brings to mind one of the most anticipated drinks at Starbucks.....the Pumpkin Spice Latte!  Just last week my favourite barista was asking, "when are we getting our fall card Leslie"?  Sheesh, they're so spoiled - LOL, so I decided to make them one with the pumpkin spice in mind.  My layout is the SSSC238.

I stamped two of the sweet images from "Pumpkins on the vine" set onto Bella's Bestest paper with Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured them with copics.  Don't you love her sweet little pumpkin hat?  I haven't decided if she's sharing her pumpkin spice latte with the squirrel or he's sharing it with her.  Either way - yum!  I drew the Starbucks cup freehand but couldn't quite match it perfectly as their green logo in the circle was too much for me :)

On the inside I used one of the sentiments that came with the stamp set and also the row of pumpkins along the bottom.

Here are the copics I used.

I can't wait to give this to them tomorrow!

Sink or Swim - SSSC188

The big news here in Toronto on Monday evening was the CRAZY storm that dumped a record-breaking amount of rain!  The pictures and stories have to be seen to be believed, especially the stranded GO train - fortunately not the train I was on!
Click here for some crazy photos of the storm - I've never seen anything like it.  My local Starbucks, that I visit every morning before work, was flooded and severely damaged.  I felt so bad for them - they looked so sad the morning after trying to clean up and explain to all their customers they were closed - that I had to make them a card.  I love my Starbucks and the staff at this particular location are outstanding!

I made a cute little scene and if you look closely you'll see the little fellow is reaching for his Starbucks cup floating by.  I drew the Starbucks cup by hand as I don't have a stamp that tiny even though it's a grande True North - their new flavour :)

I sponged some clouds using the Wonky Scallop die-namic and made the waves with the Catch a Wave die-namic.  Then I added a banner with the fun sentiment.

I used the SSSC188 for my layout - with a few changes :)  These are the copics I used.

I do hope they're open for business tomorrow - I can't wait to give it to them!

Sweet Sunday Secretary - SSSC183

The next few weeks.....well months really.....are going to be very busy at work as we pack up and move to our new building.  It's exciting and stressful all at the same time.  I made this for my co-worker, Christal, to thank her for all her hard work so far and in the weeks to come!  I used Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge from last Sunday (SSSC183).

The stamp set is called "Confidential" from There She Goes and it has so many funny sentiments to choose from.  One of my favourites is "My job is so confidential, I don't even know what I'm doing" :)  But the sentiment I chose for the inside seemed more fitting for us at the moment.  I'll be glad when the move is over and we're all settled in - look how neat and tidy her desk is!

The copics I used are shown below.

Sweet Sunday Sailing - SSSC153

My friend, Vicky, is well into her cruise by now.  This is the card I made for her before she left.  Karen's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (SSSC153) was a great layout and only "tweaked" a couple of things.  I made my card horizontal and shortened the panel behind the circle.

I stamped Float my Boat from There She Goes in Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured it with copics and added some pencil crayon and OMS for extra shading.

The paper is MME Everyday Flair and SU Bashful Blue.  I kept the card pretty simple - just a bauble in each corner and a bit of sewing around the edge.  I love the felt waves made with the Catch a Wave die.  I was going to add another row of waves but wanted calm seas for Vicky! :)

Happy Halloween

I love Halloween and nobody knows that better than Karen and Dana.  I wanted to make them a special card to say Happy Halloween and also a BIG thank you for all they do for me.  One of the best things they do is add my name to my card photos - for some reason I cannot do that!  Now, as you can imagine I couldn't send them this one for editing so attempted it myself.  Apart from my missing name I think I did okay :)

This cute little image is from the set called Pumpkins on the Vine from There She Goes.

I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with copics.  The sentiment is from Stamping Bella.  I added some glitter with my Stardust glitter pen to her sweet hat and several coats of clear glaze pen to the little pumpkin she's holding.  The layout is MFTWSC43 - I loved this layout!  The pattern paper is Cosmo Cricket Matilda and SU Basic Black, Old Olive and More Mustard.  The spiderweb border punch is from Martha Stewart.  I sewed the edges and you will notice they are relatively straight.....this was before my stamping night went downhill but that's a blog post and photo (!) for another day.

Happy Halloween!

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone is out enjoying this glorious weather - it's like summer again and for that I'm very thankful!  Today's card is one I made at Mary Jane's cottage last month.

Every September, six of us head up to her cottage for a weekend.  There is lots of stamping, LOTS of food and lots of laughs!  In the past years, I have planned all the stamping projects but this year her two daughters, Lindsay Anne and Sarah Jane designed some of the projects and was great to have help.  Here is a card designed by Sarah Jane - she made it a step up card which was cool because I've seen lots of them but never made one.  The image is called Pumpkins on the Vine and it's by There She Goes stamps.  The pattern paper is MME and the solid paper is from SU as is the Kiwi Kiss ribbon.  I stamped it with Tuxedo Memento Black ink and coloured it with copics.  I did a little 'faux' shine on her shoes and then gave them a coat of black glaze pen.

I am thankful for many things today - Happy Thanksgiving to you!

The Sweet Sunday that almost wasn't!

This week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge SSSC137 was easy for me.  I knew immediately I'd flip the sketch horizontally and started working on my image.  It all went downhill from there!  Seriously, this card had so many mistakes I almost gave up...but...a true crafter perseveres and here's what I ended up with.

This adorable image is from There She Goes and the set is called Wonderful Winter Wishes.  I stamped it in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with copics.

I coloured the big girl's mitten red but smeared it a bit on her sleeve.  No problem, I'll use my 0 copic to 'erase' it.  Nope, not working, made it worse.  No problem.  I'll paper piece her coat.  Nope, cut off her hand by mistake.  No problem, I'll stamp another set of hands and paper piece them on.  Easier said than done - I should have taken a photo of the underneath of those girls!  Thankfully the rest of the card came together very easily.  The cardstock is SU Garden Green, Real Red and some retired SU pattern paper.  The circles and lacey circle are Nestabilities and I used the Perfect Polkadots embossing folder from SU on the white circle and sponged the edges.  MFT Simply Scallops Die-namics finished off the bottom border.

It took much longer than I thought to make this card because of all my "problems" but it seems to have turned out okay in the end :)
