Graduation Cheers

I was asked to make a couple of graduation cards for Vicky and her only request was one had to have dark brown hair and one light brown hair (I've just shown one here).  My MFT order had just arrived so I knew exactly the image I would use!

I stamped the Cheers  à la modes from MFT in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored it with copics.  I was surprised at how few copics I used - really just hair, dress and skin colours AND I used the same skin colours for the champagne - I just used a bit of the 0 copic to remove some colour from the champagne glass.  By the looks of my blurry copic photo you would think I'd been in to the champagne myself!! :)

I added several coats of clear glaze pen to the glass and paper pieced it so it was outside the rectangle.  The papers are Making Memories Brooke Paisley and Brooke Narr Stripe and the sketch is the MFTWSC20.  I was super excited with my MFT order and wanted to use as much of it as possible, so added a Simply Scallop border along the bottom and a Mini Rolled Rose Die-namic.  Thanks Karen, for suggesting I use the matching paper to make the rose - love it!

I didn't have a leaf die so I made my own.  I just cut an oval, free-hand, scored it down the middle and then ran it through my crimper  - voila - a leaf!

Well, Happy Graduation girls and Cheers to you!

Happy Birthday Vicky

Today is my friend Vicky's Birthday!  Vicky enjoys her wine - red wine to be specific - so I knew that Winobella was the perfect image for her!
I used The Sweet Shop sketch for this week SSS108.  I started by stamping the image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored it with copics.  Oh, and I tried some sewing again and it seems a little straighter  this time :)  I just need to keep practicing.
I added several coats of clear glaze pen to the wine glasses and the bottle - not sure if it's a Cabernet Sauvignon or a Shiraz!  The cute little flower die is my new MFT Pretty Posies die-namic and I just added a button to the middle.  The paper is the Twitterpated Collection, Pebbles line and it's called "Delightful" which is what Vicky is...just delightful!

Wishing you a wonderful birthday Vicky - enjoy your day!

Nurse's Week

This past week was Nurses Week and I made a couple of these for my favourite nurses at work.  Joanne made the cutest card (click here to look) and I shamelessly copied it - thanks Joanne :)

I started by stamping the adorable MFT Best Medicine in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored her with copics.  I used my clear glaze pen (which is getting quite the workout lately) on her shoes and it looked really cute.  Her little apron was paper pieced and I added some twine on top of the twill ribbon and on the little button accent.  I loved the paper Joanne used but didn't have it so used some retired SU patterned paper that I pieced together to get the look she had.

I'm sure you'll be seeing more of this cute little nurse - working in the medical field I know I'm going to get a lot of use out of this image!

Bellariffic Friday - Kraft

It's Bellariffic Friday on a Saturday and I'm blaming it on Blogger! :)  The challenge for this Friday was to use kraft in your card.  I love the look of kraft and don't use it near enough.  I needed a card for a little girl called Findlay and My Beary Best Friend from Stamping Bella seemed perfect as I could stamp him on kraft cardstock and save me some colouring - crafty, aren't I?!
I stamped him a few more times so I could layer (or is it paper piece?) his body and his head and little Findlay's hand holding him.  I actually did shade him just a touch with my W1 copic but I will say, using kraft cardstock for teddy bears is a real time-saver.
The pattern paper is Stampin' Up Pawsitively Prints from their Build-a-Bear line.  I used the MFT Open Scallop Border Die-namic, a bit of SU Pretty in Pink Satin Ribbon and four bon bons in the corners.  Oh and I can't forget my new Lacy Square nestie - LOVE these!!  I tried to sew again but clearly it was too late for me to be sewing and I need more practice - it's a bit wonky!  A little glitter on the bear's heart and it was ready for Findlay - hope she likes it.

Showers of Happiness

**Yikes, Blogger has had some issues and deleted this post - so here it is again **

Remember this card?  Well, last weekend I attended a bridal shower for Lindsay and again I stressed about the card.  When you're making a card for a fellow stamper, the pressure is on :)  I knew the image I wanted to use but I just couldn't come up with anything until Cath came to the rescue!  Click here to see the beautiful card she made.  It couldn't have been more perfect - it was exactly the image I was going to use!

Wedding Gown Circle is stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and I only used four copics.  I went a little crazy with my new Lacey Circle nesties but actually love it as I think it looks like a layered wedding cake!
I dug out my SU Flourish Textured plate for a soft embossed background and gave it a spritz of Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist.  Of course I had to paper piece the bow on her dress and add some tiny dots of glitter.  A bow with a tiny pearl heart finished it off.  I was really happy with the end result and Lindsay loved it too.  Thanks again Cath - couldn't have done it without you! :)

Bellariffic Friday - Flowers

Today I'm combining Bellariffic Friday with the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge (SSSC115) found on Karen Giron's blog.  I should have called this post "Sweet Sunday Flowers"! :)  The theme for today's Bellariffic Friday is flowers and I LOVE fresh flowers!!  I chose some paper with flowers on it and used Stamping Bella's Anabel Lulu as my image.  I can't believe I've never inked her up before - she's so sweet.

I coloured the image with copics and gave the birthday cake (which, by the way, is a Jamaican Rum cake for Colleen!) a few coats of the clear glaze pen which makes the icing look SO real.  A few Bella dots, some ribbon and I was finished.  So, Happy Birthday Colleen, Happy Bellariffic Friday and Happy Mother's Day to my Mum and all the other Mums out there!
