Gracie - SSSC176

Karen's SSSC176 sketch was just what I needed to whip up some quick "just because" cards.

I love the "cuteness" of the Lollipops and especially love paper piecing them - although I seem to have used quite a lot of copics :)

With paper piecing, it's like playing paper dolls again!  Stay tuned, next Wednesday you'll meet Gracie's twin sister!

A sketchy sketch!

What started out as MFTWSC108 turned out nothing like it!  Does that ever happen to you?

This card took me about 2 1/2 hours to make!  Shocking, I know, as it looks so simple.  Wrong paper, wrong colours, wrong flowers....I wasn't feeling it and almost chucked it completely but persevered.  I don't love it but I don't hate it.  I probably should have just started over :)

Bellariffic Friday - Sketch 2

Today's Bellariffic Friday is Sketch #2 and my card is for a very special BellaBabe.....Cath!  I wasn't able to participate in the special "Thinking of You" Bellariffic Friday for Cath on December 21 last year (yes, hanging my head in shame) but that doesn't mean I haven't stopped thinking about her!  I stamped Matilda on her Swing - doesn't she look so sweet, carefree and warm?!  She's only wearing a little jacket and not layers upon layers like we are this week to keep the -25C windchill at bay!

I cut the centre of the pattern paper out with an oval and then added a thin ring made from two ovals  It kind of looks like a little frame now.  I added a tiny bit of glitter around Matilda and some fluffy clouds after lightly sponging the sky blue.  I used some green felt for the two layers of grass and left just two little flowers showing.

I love that this image comes with a sentiment (and a perfect one for my card!) which I stamped on a little banner tied with baker's twine.  I kept the inside pretty simple with lots of room to write.

So Cath....honest, your card's in the mail :)

Bellariffic Friday - Inspiration 1

This week's Bellariffic Friday is an "inspiration picture".  I'll admit, I was a bit scared of it - I'm much better with a sketch - but I'm happy with the end result even if I did get one of the colours wrong!  Apparently it's red, not orange, but as DanaBella says "it's open to interpretation" :)

I gave the soccer ball some dimension with a blob of crystal effects and I sponged lightly around the image.  The main things I took from the "inspiration picture" were the chevron and the colours.  I was so happy to find the perfect pattern paper to use!  I also carried those two things through to the inside of the card, using a chevron die in gray and yellow.

I wanted to add a button but this is going to one of my cousins in England (Happy Birthday Eliot!) so it had to be as "bulk-free" as possible for mailing!

An added bonus is that I can enter this card in the SCS Bellatastic Tuesday #3 challenge as it's "sentiment free".  I've listed all the supplies used below.

Happy Birthday - MFTWSC106

Last night I stayed up late and forced myself to stop surfing and start stamping!  I realized I had a few days left to play along with this week's MFTWSC106.

Oh how I love this pretty girl!  I was going to paper piece her dress but then decided to have a try at some pleats, so just paper pieced the top bit of her dress.  I added a big blob of crystal effects to the balloon and love the shine it gives.  Speaking of shine, I added several coats of clear glaze pen to her shoes too.

For the inside I stuck to my favourite "layout"....Fishtail Flags and part of the image.

I've listed all the supplies used below.
Hey, I just realized I've posted two sweet girls with balloons back to back! :)

Bellariffic Friday - Sketch 1

Doesn't that first full week back to work after the holidays seem sooooooo long?!  Well, it's finally Friday and that means another Stamping Bella Bellariffic Friday - our first of 2013 - and it's a sketch so I'm doubly happy :)

I made this card for a very special and dear friend who celebrated her birthday last month!  Yes, it's a wee bit late but I hope she understands :)

For such a tiny girl, Millie sure needed a lot of copics.

I stamped an extra balloon and popped it up for dimension and then added some Stickles to make it sparkle.

I also did the inside of the card.  Truth is, this is my second "inside".....the first had a terrible accident with a black ink pad!  You'd think I'd know by now to ALWAYS put the lid on it when not in use :)

I'm trying something new this year with my blog and will post all the supplies used at the end of the post with the links.  Not sure if I'll stick with it or go back to how I did it before, but a new year always brings something new to try.

Thank you

Happy 2013!

I was itching to get back into my stamp room to create after the holidays but was procrastinating as I hadn't written my Christmas thank you cards.  So that was my priority this weekend and I'm happy to say they're all finished!  I cased this card by Nancy Littrell.  It's a perfect thank you card - quick, simple, flat to mail (which is important) and I think, really lovely.  The image is a two step stamp and I always find those easy to stamp as I don't have to worry about them matching up perfectly.

Wishing you a very happy, healthy and stamp-happy 2013!
