Christmas Thank You

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas, Hannukah - whatever you celebrated!  From a very young age my sister and I were taught to make and write our thank you cards for our Christmas gifts on Boxing Day - pretty much immediately or we couldn't play with the gifts!  Sounds harsh, but to this day I keep pretty much to that schedule.  I made these on December 27th so was only a day late. :)

I found an adorable card using Swanky Snowdudes and decided it was perfect to CASE for my thank you cards this year.  I inked up the largest snowman from the set with Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured him with copics.

The sentiment is from Snow Day.  I drew the snow line in with a thin black Sharpie, added some glitter and red bakers twine and he's all set.  A super simple and sweet card.

Wishing you a stamp happy 2012!

**PS:  If you're reading the comments on this card, I'd just like to state for the record - I DID give my sister a Christmas present this year!  Could be the biggest gift I've ever given her....if she wins.  I gave her a Heart and Stroke Lottery Calendar!!

More Frosty Fun

Here's my second version of yesterday's card.

I used the same Frosty Fun image, Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured her with copics.

The paper is from the same Snow Day Collection by Crate Paper. I changed up the layout a bit, using the Icicle Border die and some ribbon across the bottom.  I loved the snowflake on yesterday's card so did another one for this card using more of my stash of Puff Cloud White felt to make the snowflake and the Let It Snowflake die.  In my hurry to photograph this I forgot to add glitter for her to skate on so you'll have to use your imagination - LOL.  I did add it to the card afterwards and it looks so much prettier with a bit of sparkle!

Frosty Fun

I was asked to make a few cards for some special little girls.  I wanted them to be similar but not exactly the same.  I'll show you one today and one tomorrow - how's that for a teaser? :)

I stamped Frosty Fun from MFT in Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured her with copics.
I copied this layout from a card Joanne B did. I can't find the link to her exact card, but I love her blog - it's one of my favourites!  The paper is Snow Day Collection by Crate Paper. I am trying, slowly but surely, to USE all my stamping stuff - instead of just hoarding it!  I used some Puff Cloud White felt to make my snowflake and the Let It Snowflake die.  Joanne often uses buttons and ties the most perfect teeny tiny little bows so I tried that too!  A skater needs ice, so I added some chunky glitter along the bottom.  Pop by tomorrow for a second version of this card :)

Christal's Christmas card

My co-worker, Christal, is a big fan of my cards and so I knew I had to make a special one for her this year.  When I saw the new Uptown girl "Eve under the mistletoe" I knew this was the image to use.  I think I created a wonderful likeness of Christal with this Bella image.  Not only is Eve's haircut similar to Christals but the dress and especially the shoes are SO Christal - she LOVES shoes!

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with copics.  The paper is some retired SU Christmas paper.  Now Christal is always encouraging me to try and match her gorgeous skin tone and I gave it my best shot on this card.  I used E33 for her skin and N8 and 9 for her hair.  I paper pieced her cute little dress and the belt has a couple of coats of black glaze pen with a coat of silver Atyou Spica on the buckle.  I added some liquid applique with glitter on it to the dress trim and red stickles on her shoes and bracelets.  I adore ghost snowflakes (so much so that I hate to use them-just like to look at them!) but this card had to have one.  I added another white snowflake with a silver donut and red bonbon on top to finish it off.  The sentiment is from Holly Girl and the banner is the First Place Award Ribbon.  This card started off as the sketch for December's SFYTT but ended up being a very "loose" interpretation :)

I'm happy to say Christal loved her card - so much so that she asked me to take a photo of her with her card to show you!

Happy Birthday Dana!!

My friend Dana is celebrating a birthday today!  She knows I love snowmen and sent me this adorable image recently from Kraftin' Kimmie stamps.  It's called Frosty Winter Friends - a perfect friendship card!

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured him with copics.

I wanted to keep it simple and relatively flat for mailing so just some red, navy and ballet blue cardstock and I ran the white piece through my swiss dots embossing folder.  I finally bit the bullet and bought a set of Atyou Spica pens (yay!) so I used the blue and red pen for some sparkle - LOVE these pens!  The banner is from MFT First Place Award Ribbon and I added two red rhinestones to either end of the sentiment which is included with the stamp.  Then some chunky glitter for the icy puddle he's standing in and he was ready to celebrate with Dana.  I like how he's standing - possibly thinking 'let's get this party started'! :)

Please stop over at Dana's blog and wish her a Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday my friend!!!

Happy Birthday Kate - MFTWSC49

For this week's MFTWSC49 I needed a birthday card for my sweet cousin in England.  It couldn't be too bulky - Canada Post frowns on that so I kept the embellishments as flat as possible!  I also flipped the sketch to suit the image.

I stamped I Need Some Face Time in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with copics.

The rest of the card came together pretty quickly because I used another TE Key Ingredients kit.  I think this one was called Easter and it's from last year.  The pattern paper is Basic Grey Kioshi and the little flowers that match were in the kit.  I'm so happy that the coat of crystal effects I put on the screen shows up nice and shiny!  Now I wish I'd written Happy Birthday on the screen first.  I popped her up and am hoping Canada Post will let this one squeeze by!

Happy Birthday Kate!

Snow Much Fun

Here's another card from the cottage weekend.  This sweet snowman card was designed by Lindsay Anne for us all to make.

I stamped Snow Much Fun from SU in Memento Tuxedo black in and coloured him with - gosh I can't remember if it was pencils and OMS or copics :)  I added tiny dots of glitter around him and some stickles down one side of him - I will admit I got a little carried away with the stickles - you know me and glitter!  He's mounted on a large scallop circle nestie with some paper piercing in each scallop.  Lindsay Anne gave everyone a piece of ribbon to tie across the top but I knew I'd be mailing this one overseas so left that off to save postage!

Bellariffic Friday - Holiday wishes

Yikes, only 3 weeks 'til Christmas so here's another Christmas card to add to my pile.  I guess I'd better spend some time this weekend actually writing and addressing them :)

I stamped one of my most fav Bella images, Snowbunnybella in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and shockingly didn't use any copics!  I used my aquapainter and Bashful Blue ink to get the soft look.  Oh wait, I did use a copic on her face and hair but forgot to take a photo :)

The background is a snowflake embossing folder and I found a bit of pale blue ribbon with snowflakes on it - how perfect!  I used a Martha Stewart punch for the snowflakes and backed them with a ghost snowflake and a big sparkly dot.  Snowbunnybella has some glitter on her cuffs and boots and some tiny twinkles for her buttons.  I sponged around the nestie before removing it to soften all the white edges.

Have a good weekend.

Wyatt's buddy

After making yesterday's card I still had bits of the paper out so decided to whip up this cutie.  It's the new PI Holiday Hugs Snowman from MFT.

It's a very simple layout.  The copics are pretty much the same.

Same copics, paper, snowflakes, stickles, pretty much everything.  I think I might be on to something...make a second card immediately from my leftovers!

Wyatt's Snow Day - MFTWSC48

Well the timing couldn't have been more perfect for this snowman card - it snowed today!  Our first snowfall this season, although I'm pretty sure there won't be enough to make a snowman like this one!

For this week's MFTWSC48 card I used Wyatt Just Chillin'.  I remember when I was little - getting all bundled up in my snowsuit to go outside and play - I could barely move with all the layers but I was so toasty warm.

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured it with copics.

Wyatt's snow pants are paper pieced and I kept the colour combo very simple - red, blue and green.  I used the swiss dots embossing folder and some stickles on Wyatt's hat.  The paper is MME The Merry Days of Christmas.  I didn't have the same MFT die from the sketch, so I improvised and cut out the image with a nestie instead.  I made a snowflake from Let It Snowflake Die-namic and added a little bonbon in the middle.

This was a cute sketch and certainly a fast one - I'll be making more with this!

Ski Bunny - SSSC145

Well, we don't have any snow here - in fact yesterday I was raking leaves!  Karen has a great sketch for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge SSSC145.  It has a snowflake in the image so you just know I was leaving that in - I love my snowmen and my snowflakes :)

I stamped Ski Bunny from The Cat's Pajamas in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured him with copics.

There wasn't much colouring to do but I did paper piece his scarf and pop it up for some dimension.  The paper is Saint Nick by Fancypants Design.  The dies are all from MFT: First Place Award Ribbon for the sentiment banner and Let it Snowflake for the snowflake which has a red bonbon in the middle.  I added some blue rick rack and that was it.  Oh and some sewing too - for my sister to inspect :) .  I know just the skiing couple this is going to!

Bellariffic Friday - Freeform - Happy Birthday Janet

Today is Freeform Bellariffic Friday - so any Stamping Bella image will do!  Here is the birthday card I made for my friend, Janet.  I hadn't used Izzie has a Prezzie in so long and I just love her hair and wanted to keep practicing LindaBella's hair colouring technique found here.

I stamped Izzie in Tuxedo Memento Black ink and coloured her using copics and then did some extra shading with pencils and gamsol.  I tried some very pale blue shading like LindaBella does and some shading to 'ground' her too.

I added some Black Glaze pen to her cute little shoes and a tiny bit of glitter to the presents and her belt.  I put some pale pink bonbons on the Medium Simply Scallop Die-namic from MFT and used my new Big Scalloped Rectangle die to mount her on.  The paper is Imaginisce Fairest of Them All, Magic Meadow.  I love the glittery line through this paper!

Candy Cane Kisses - MFTWSC47

Oooh, we're just over a month until Christmas Eve - where does the time go?!  I really liked the sketch for this week's MFTWSC47.  I used the ultra chic Candy Cane Kisses.  How sweet is she?  No pun intended :)

I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured her with copics.

The paper is MME Be Merry and I used the Textile Rectangle die and the new Icicle Border die with some stickles added to it for some sparkle.  I used a red copic atyou glitter pen on her candy cane and two large sparkly dots at the top for even more sparkle.  Some lovely satin pink ribbon and this chic chick is ready for the holidays!

Sweet Little Lampchop - SSSC144

It's time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge SSSC144I used the sweet little PI lamb from this month's MFT release.  I had this card of Karens in front of me to try and get the shading on his wool perfect and I'm really pleased with it!

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured it with copics.  I tried very hard to colour and shade a little 'pink' into his ears and face like Karen did on her card today.

The paper is Echo Park Season's Greetings and I paper pieced his jacket and trousers.  I was "forced" into sewing on it but I know the more I sew, the better I'll get or so I keep telling myself :)

The starry background was done using the TE Stars Impression plate which I've never used before but love the look of.  I used an oval nestie for the image and backed it with the MFT Oval Decorative Doily die-namic and the Little Open Scallop Strip.  I do love this little lamb!

Bellariffic Friday - Savyshopabella Sketch

Yay, it's another sketch from Ebruabella this week - that makes it so easy to whip up a card!  I needed another birthday card and this was for my beautiful God-daughter who has just turned 18.  I was present at her birth and I was the one who yelled "it's a girl"!!  I just cannot grasp that she is now 18 - how does that happen?  I knew the perfect image for her would be Savyshopabella because, really, what 18 year old doesn't like to shop? :)

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with copics (sorry forgot to take that photo).  The pattern paper is Echo Park Little Girl and the solid paper is SU Kiwi Kiss and Rich Razzleberry.  I used Swiss Dots embossing folder and a trio of tiny twinkles in the top corner.  The bow wasn't working at the top - it covered her face, so I moved it to the bottom and I like there.

Have a great weekend!

Happy Trails Janet & Neal - MFTWSC46

Our friends Janet and Neal are moving across the country and I made this card for them using the MFTWSC46.  I hate "goodbyes" so made it as if they're just going on a trip - because I know we'll see them again :)

I stamped the sweet little PI Are We There Yet in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with copics.  I didn't take a photo of the copics as it was just her skin and her flip flops.  All the paper and embellishments are from the TE Spa Key Ingredients kit.  I love the bright colours of this kit.  I also used the MFT Simply Scallops Medium Die-namic and a couple of prima flowers.  PI girls are a dream to paper piece, so I did her purse, her t-shirt and suitcase - oh how I wish my carry on case was that cute!

Even thought this little PI is wearing shorts and flip flops, they are not moving to a hot climate but they are moving to beautiful British Columbia.  Safe travels Janet and Neal - we'll see you soon!

Happy Birthday Cousin Philip

My cousin in England can nap anywhere, anytime so I thought using MFT Fred Bear Catches Some Zzz's was the perfect image for him.  It may seem like an odd choice for a birthday card but he loves to nap - what better gift than to be able to nap on your birthday!  It's my first time using a Fred image.  The colouring scared me a bit but I followed Karen's card here and I'm happy with it.

Fred is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured with copics (E21, E23, E25, E27, N4, N6).  For Fred's body, I made tiny dots starting with my lightest colour and then added more with each darker colour.  The pattern paper is Basic Gray Life of the Party - which is funny because Fred seems to be sleeping through this party!  I cut two strips of grass from felt using MFT Fresh Cut Grass Die-namic and layered Fred in between.  I paper pieced his pillow and the Zzz's in the bubble are from MFT Say What Die-namic.  The sketch is SC357.  I kept it pretty simple with no embellishments to make it "Canada Post friendly".

Happy Birthday Cousin Philip!  Your card is in the mail - honest! :)

My stamping accident

As with most accidents there is a "before" moment, and "oh crap" moment and the "rescue" moment.  I thought it would be fun to show you my recent accident.

Here's the "before" card, beautifully stamped image, perfectly paper pieced lab coat, all photographed and ready to post on my blog.  It's a duplicate from this post.
Here's what happened JUST after I stamped my name on the back of the card!!!!
Can you see that NASTY ink pad mark? Not only did I drop the ink pad but it bounced and made TWO marks!  That was my "oh crap" moment!  I couldn't bear to start again plus it was quite late on a work night so I left it on my desk for a few days.  Then the "rescue" came - in the form of a completely new PI image, Lily of the Valley.  Here's the "rescued" card.

Although the Girl Doctor wasn't able to save herself, Lilly of the Valley came through and all was well in the world!!

Bellariffic Friday - Holiday card

I'm squeaking in another Christmas card - only 6 weeks until Christmas!  I used the SSSC136 for my layout and changed it to a regular size card rather than a square card.  Snowfight is one of my favourite images from Stamping Bella.

I stamped the image in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with copics.

The cardstock is SU Baja Breeze, Real Red and Garden Green - a colour combo I just love for holiday cards.  The embossing folder is called Snowflake and I used the Open Scallop Border Die-namic with some SU Real Red satin ribbon.  The snowflake is a combination of punches and I love those donuts and bonbons in the middle of a snowflake - they just seem to make it sparkle that much more!  Speaking of sparkle, I spritzed some Marshmallow Glimmer Mist over the embossed panel but it's hard to see in the photo.  The snowballs have several coats of clear glaze pen.  I put some liquid applique on her trim and, as we all know, no snowman card is complete unless you have glitter!

*Please take a moment today to remember all the soldiers who have fought and continue to fight for a better world.

Bellariffic Friday - Snow

Snow?!  I know some of our Bellababes have experienced it already in the last week but I'm not ready for it yet.  Yikes, I don't want to even think about snow.....except on Christmas cards!  My card for this week's Bellariffic Friday uses Frosty from Stamping Bella.

As usual, I stamped him in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured him with copics.

It was a pretty simple card after that.  The paper is called Winter Soulstice and I have absolutely NO idea where I got it from  - how sad is that?!  Frosty is mounted in a scallop circle nestie that I paper pierced.  The red looks a bit orangey but trust me - it's red!  I punched out a couple of snowflakes and used a donut with a bonbon in the middle.  There's lots of glitter - both fine and chunky for the snow.  In keeping with the "snow" theme I used my Snowflake embossing folder too.  Here's hoping nobody gets any snow this weekend!

You had me at Woof - MFTWSC44

Here's my card for this week's MFTWSC44.  I love a sketch and for this one I thought I'd put the dog outside the oval instead of a flower.  I have been on a bit of a "buying" spree and it was time for me to start inking some of my purchases!

I stamped this sweet little Claire Keay image, You Had Me at Woof, in Memento Tuxedo black ink and coloured her with copics.

As with most of the MFT images I love to paper piece and adore the look of her little wool coat.  It looks cute and toasty warm but the hat....that makes me laugh - it's so big :)

The pattern paper is Basic Grey Max & Whiskers and I used the Open Scallop Edge Die-namic along the bottom.  I added some Tiny Twinkles for her buttons and one on the dog collar.  Her shoes are shined with several coats of clear glaze pen.  Her legs aren't really tanned - they're brown tights :)

I know exactly the dog lover this card is going to!

Sweet Sunday Sketch - Happy Birthday Mo

It was my dear friend Mo's birthday and I needed a special card for her.  This week's SSSC141 was perfect.  I wasn't going to flip the sketch but after looking at Dana's card I decided to go for it although I left off the little scallop bit.

I stamped the adorable PI girl Lily of the Valley in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured her with copics.

The base card is SU Pretty in Pink and the pattern paper is MME Lost & Found Madison Avenue.  I paper pieced her sweet dress and I added a couple of TE Tiny Twinkles to her shoes.  I didn't want to leave the lily of the valley completely white so added a little gray (C1) to the edges and a layer of clear glaze pen on top.  The Pretty in Pink satin ribbon is from SU and the Simply Scallops Die-namics is from MFT.  I ran the brown piece through my SU Perfect Polkadots embossing folder and it made almost a sanded look to the paper!

Happy Birthday Mo!

Pumpkin contest at work

We had a pumpkin contest at work last week and I was asked to make the winning medals.

I used the Die-namics First Place Award Ribbon set from MFT.  I LOVE this set - it's so fast and easy to make up these little medals - they loved them at work and I can see me making more for future contests :)

The paper is more of the Cosmo Cricket Matilda and the ink is SU Pumpkin Pie.  I added a piece of sticky strip on the back so it could be adhered to the winning pumpkin.  Christal and I created a breast reconstruction pumpkin!

We called it Pretty in Pink.  It didn't place 1st, 2nd or 3rd....but it did come in a very close 4th.  Did you know that the breast reconstruction ribbon has a double loop - like a figure 8?

Happy Halloween

I love Halloween and nobody knows that better than Karen and Dana.  I wanted to make them a special card to say Happy Halloween and also a BIG thank you for all they do for me.  One of the best things they do is add my name to my card photos - for some reason I cannot do that!  Now, as you can imagine I couldn't send them this one for editing so attempted it myself.  Apart from my missing name I think I did okay :)

This cute little image is from the set called Pumpkins on the Vine from There She Goes.

I stamped her in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored her with copics.  The sentiment is from Stamping Bella.  I added some glitter with my Stardust glitter pen to her sweet hat and several coats of clear glaze pen to the little pumpkin she's holding.  The layout is MFTWSC43 - I loved this layout!  The pattern paper is Cosmo Cricket Matilda and SU Basic Black, Old Olive and More Mustard.  The spiderweb border punch is from Martha Stewart.  I sewed the edges and you will notice they are relatively straight.....this was before my stamping night went downhill but that's a blog post and photo (!) for another day.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween treats

This is a very quick post with some super sweet little treat favours I made.  I took a bunch for my co-workers this week and last night took some for every one's place setting when we went out for dinner with friends.
I can't take credit for either of these brilliant ideas though!  The hat is from this blog post and the little EEK package is two Hershey chocolate nuggets (mmmm).  The tutorial is here.  Angie has the best little gift ideas and does great tutorials!  The hat was made with retired SU Halloween paper rolled into a cone shape and a circle for the base punched out of Basic Black cardstock.  The nugget holder was exactly the same papers.  I stamped some address labels with a stamp from It's a Wrap Holidays set (SU Holiday Mini) in Cajan Craze ink to match the paper and wrapped them around the nuggets.  I punched two scallop circles and just wrapped them around the two nuggets and tied it up with a bit of ribbon.

I love making little treats as table (or desk) favours and these were super easy!

Bellariffic Friday - Stripes

Finally Friday and not a moment too soon!  This week's theme for Bellariffic Friday was "stripes" and seeing as it's Halloween in a few days I squeaked in one last Halloween card.  I think my most favourite technique is brayering and after choosing the owls as my image, I knew exactly how I'd make this card.  Am I allowed to say, I just LOVE how this turned out?! :)

I started with a piece of SU glossy paper and brayered some SU Delightful Daffodil across it.  Then I made a mask of the moon with my circle punch.  I brayered another layer of Delightful Daffodil then a couple more layers of SU More Mustard.  That's when the "happy mistake" happened!  Apparently my mask had moved and I was left with a slight moon shadow.  I couldn't have planned that better :)  I sponged some SU Pumpkin Pie around the top edge and the moon.  Then I stamped Branching Out Owlies in black StazOn and coloured in the branch with a black sharpie.  The striped paper is from my Apothecary Emporium pad by Echo Park.  I used a scallop border die and added some black rhinestones to it.  The BOO sentiment flag seemed a bit bare, so I added a black button from my stash and then tied a little bow with striped black twine.  Have a great weekend and a Happy Halloween!

Thank you Taiba - MFTWSC43

It's been a month since my last MFTWSC and I had to fix that!  Our resident is nearing the end of her rotation with us and I wanted to make her a thank you card.  The PI Girl Doctor was perfect for this week's MFTWSC43 .

I stamped Girl Doctor in Mememto Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with copics.

The pattern paper is MME Lime Twist Happy Go Lucky and the solid paper is SU Old Olive, Baja Breeze and Rich Razzleberry.  The sentiment is from Worlds Best Doctor - keeping it all medical :)  - and I used my stamp-a-ma-jig to position it perfectly in the circle.  I used SU Perfect Polkadots for the embossed background and added a piece of Old Olive ribbon over the Simply Scallops Die-namic border.

Taiba is a skilled doctor and when not in her scrubs has the cutest clothes and accessories so I had to add some bling to her lab coat and a little glitter to her hair clip!

Thank you Taiba for your wonderful care of our patients - we will miss you!

Sweet Sunday Sketch - Clean and Simple

Karen's sketch today for SSSC140 really threw me for a loop but after looking at all the Sweet Sunday Stampers cards I knew I had to give it a try.  I kept it very clean and simple and am really pleased with how it turned out.  I can see myself using this layout again - and I sure didn't think that when I first saw it  :-)

The base card is SU Peach Parfait and the little coloured squares (SU Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Lovely Lilac, Green Galore) were cut out with my tiny square nestie and I know what Dana's talking about now!  The little flower from Just Bugz by OCL was stamped in the same colour ink as the cardstock square and I finished it with a colour coordinated dot in the centre.  The white piece was run through SU Perfect Polkadots embossing folder and I wrapped a piece of SU Peach Parfait around it.  Then I just popped up all the little squares on dimensionals.  The sentiment is from Cornish Heritage Farms, Mona Lisa Moments.  It's a CAS card = clean and simple!

Bellariffic Friday - Ebru's sketch

It's time for another Bellariffic Friday.  This week it's a cute sketch from BellaBabe Ebru and I really 'tweaked' it!  I used the mirror image and rotated it once - that way my snowflake was in the perfect position for the little circle thing-a-ma-jig on Ebru's sketch!

I stamped Peeptini from Stamping Bella , coloured her with copics and added just a touch of sparkle to her dress.

The pattern paper is MME 12 Days of Christmas and the solid cardstock is SU Real Red and Garden Green.  I used some wide red grosgrain ribbon with a couple of strands of red baker's twine on top.  I love the swiss dots embossing folder for a subtle background.  The swizzle stick needed a festive touch so I covered the olive with a tiny red snowflake and red Bonbon.  Now the drink was supposed to be Blue Curacao but when I added a layer of crystal effects it turned into Creme de Menthe :)

And that's another Christmas card done - thanks for the great sketch Ebru!
